Would It Change Anything?

They all watched helplessly,
As he wandered shamelessly,
Unaware of what lay ahead.
Angels pleaded with the Higher Kind
To be at least a little kind,
To grant him more days,
So he might change his way
Before returning to clay.
But the reply came firm and clear:
“Would it change anything?”
He was running out of time,
No moments left for wine or laughter,
No joy in familiar haunts,
His share of life already spent.

Yet the man did not see
The path his fate had taken.
He even canceled a dinner date—
Unaware that it would be his last.
If he had known,
Would it have changed anything?
Every second, we march
Towards the end of the road.
Yet we feel no weight
Of living on borrowed time,
Lost in the illusion
That tomorrow will never come.
What if we cherished each moment,
And gave it all we had?
Would it change anything?
